Some very good economic news could come to Marion County, Tennessee in the coming weeks. Local sources confirm that investors are looking at two sites near the Tennessee River for industrial development that could create hundreds of jobs.
One is near the Port of Nickajack in New Hope. The other is an abandoned Ethanol plant on I-24 in Jasper. The two sites would bring a total of 400 high tech, high paying jobs. The deals are reportedly pretty far along and could be finalized in the next 60 days. County Mayor Howell Moss couldn't comment on the possible deals but said new jobs are a big part of the future.
"It's more important now more than ever that we keep the jobs we have and continue to invest in new ones," he said.
No one would give specifics of the deals, just that the jobs will require significant technical training. Announcements either way should be made in the coming weeks. Stay with Channel 3 Eyewitness News and WRCBtv.com for Coverage You Can Count On.
