Four area teams ready to tip-off TSSAA boys state tourney

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WRCB) -- Four local teams will chase a state championship at the TSSAA Boys State Basketball Tournament in Murfreesboro this week.

Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences and Grace Academy will represent the Chattanooga area in the Class A bracket, while Tyner and Howard will both compete in the AA bracket.

CSAS and Tyner won region championships this season, with Grace and Howard finishing runners-up.

Wednesday and Thursday's quarterfinal winners advance to Friday's semifinals.  State title games for all three TSSAA classifications are scheduled for Saturday at the Murphy Center at Middle Tennessee State University.

The Chattanooga schools are on separate sides of the brackets in both tournaments, so there is a possibility of CSAS facing Grace, and Howard facing Tyner for a state title on Saturday if all four keep winning.

Wednesday, March 17 (all times Eastern)

Class A
CSAS (27-7) vs. Harriman (21-10) -- 11am
Grace Academy (22-7) vs. Oliver Springs (22-10) -- 4:15pm

Class AA
Tyner (24-6) vs. Marshall County (26-5) -- 6pm

Thursday, March 18 (all times Eastern)
Howard (26-4) vs. Liberty (27-8) -- 12:45pm
