CLEVELAND, TN (WRCB) -- Ron Hembree is one of many in Cleveland who caught word of the city losing its five red light cameras.
Channel 3 got a rare look at what you might call "mission control" Monday. You can see car after car blasting through a red light.
But last week, the camera company Traffipax, Inc, sent the city a letter to say it could no longer afford to do business here.
The city, on the other hand, thought Cleveland would be a good investment for the company.
The city pays more than $16,000 dollars per month, or roughly $3,300 per intersection.
The city says the cameras worked.
Since turning the cameras on in 2008, the number of accidents at the five intersections is cut in half.
But, we are told the $50 red light ticket just wasn't enough to pay for the service.
Now forced in corner, the city has a little more than a month to come up a new way to watch the busy intersections.
City officials voted not to look for another company for now.
Traffipax Inc. is continuing its contract with the city of Murfreesboro, TN.
