OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WRCB) - On Exit 11 in Ootelwah the line for gas wrapped around the block. At Mid Nite Oil gas dipped way below $3 Saturday at $2.45, compliments of Mountain View Church.

"We want to get our message out to as many people as we can," said Chris Hills, Mountain View's pastor. "We hope that it will translate into people who will join us into God's mission into Chattanooga."

This gas buy down comes with stipulations. The price is $2.45 up to 15 gallons, and you must pay cash to get in on the deal. Drivers looking for some relief at the pump don't seem to mind.

"Well it's a welcome surprise that's been given for a good cause," said Randolph McQueen.

"This is great," said Betty Odmann. "This is great. Everybody needs to do this"

Mountain View Church has invested $4,000 into this event to spread the gospel and, hopefully, expand their congregation. Their efforts may pay off; motorists lined up tell us they may attend service.

"I will now, now that I've heard about their church and found out where it was." responded Lewis Rurrow when asked if he would attend service at Mountain View Church.

"Yes, I see they've given me a flyer that tells me when they're having the events. I'd be glad to attend." said McQueen.

Only 266 people got in on the $2.45 gas deal, but the church looks at it as 266 possible new church members.
