Authorities Identify Body of Hiker Recovered on Suck Creek Mountain

Posted: Updated:

Hamilton County (WRCB) - Authorities now say the body of a hiker recovered on Suck Creek Mountain is that of a Harrison man.  A call came in to the Marion County Sheriff's Department around 5:00 pm that a body had been found. That body has been identified as 23 year old  Jesse David Brude.

The next six or so hours proved challenging for recovery crews.  "The rugged terrain and steep ridges they are having to climb," says Sgt. Dusty Stokes, Hamilton County Sheriff's Department. The Chattanooga Hamilton County Volunteer Cave, Cliff and Technical team rigged a high line across the canyon to assist in getting Brude's body body down.

Investigators say Brude, who was an avid rock climber, told friends and family on Monday that he was going rock climbing in the Prentice Cooper State Park. Those who knew him say Brude would go rock climbing for days at a time. Wednesday shortly after 4pm, Brude 's brother went looking for him and found his body at the base of a cliff on the Hamilton County side of Suck Creek Mountain.
