Polls show Georgia may be a Battleground State

Posted: Updated:

Chattanooga (WRCB) - "Got to vote, I have always told people you have to vote," says Trent Haupt.  Haupt is just one Georgia voter gearing up to go to the polls on election day.  "This is the most important one I have voted in," he says.  Polls and maps, like an MSNBC map we found, show Georgia is only leaning to the right and not expected to be a John McCain lock like Tennessee.  Barack Obama has spent millions advertising in Georgia and his supporters, like Tim Lewis of Ringgold, are optimistic about the possibilities.  "Going to be kind of close," he says.

Lewis has voted Republican in nearly every election, but says he wants something different.  "This is more or less a red state due to the state of the economy. I have been a Republican most of my life, but I am changing my vote this year," Lewis says. The state hasn't voted blue since George Bush Senior ran against Bill Clinton.  Haupt says he will do his part to keep the state red," Not been a battleground state. Always been a red state and I hope to keep it that way."
