Prayer Vigil Held at Lee University

Posted: Updated:

Cleveland (WRCB) -  A prayer vigil was held Monday night on the campus of Lee University to honor Caleb Baber.  Baber, a 20 year old Lee Sophomore, was shocked while climbing a high voltage tower in Cherokee National Forest over the weekend.  Baber is recovering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Burn Center; at last check he was in critical, but stable condition.

Baber's grandfather, Bob, drove 15 hours from Omaha Nebraska to be with his grandson and only two days later, he hit the road again, this time from Nashville to Cleveland.  "I could have stayed and seen Caleb at 8:00, they let us in every three hours," Bob says.  Danielle Metcalf, a fellow Lee student, organized a prayer vigil on campus.  "We wanted to cry out to God on behalf of Caleb.  We wanted to worship for him.  We believe God is good, even in the midst of this," Metcalf says.

Doctors tell Caleb's family if he can steer clear of infection, he could be back in school as early as next semester.
