CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Volunteers in Cleveland packed up CDs and DVDs on Saturday to send to the troops.
Tunes for the Troops is a support effort that sends movies and music to members of the military. Kaylee Marie Radzyminski, a teenager from Cleveland, began the project in 2005.
After this shipment makes its way overseas, Tunes for Troops will have shipped more than 300,000 items. Radzyminski's goal is to ship half a million CDs and DVDs to the troops by Christmas.
A retired soldier presented Radzyminski with his bronze star in recognition of her efforts.
"As he presented it to me, he said he tried to think of the most important thing he could give me to show his apprecieation, and that was his bronze star. And I don't know what to say. I know the significance of it and it means a lot," said Radzyminski.
Individuals and businesses donate the DVDs and CDs, which are shipped to more than 270 locations around the world.
