NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee Citizen Action has hired back its former executive director Mary Mancini to run a new get-out-the-vote effort. Mancini, who had left the advocacy group to make a bid for the state Senate, will serve as program director for the voting campaign.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Securities and Exchange Commission officials say a Tennessee-based animal feed company has agreed to pay back $18 million in illegal profits from an accounting fraud. The SEC says AgFeed Industries and top company executives were charged in March, accused of reporting fake revenues from the company's China operations in order to meet financial targets and inflate AgFeed's stock price.

National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest one-day, volunteer stewardship event.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Emergency officials in West Tennessee spent the early part of the week working to resolve problems with 911 calls from cellphones. State officials issued emergency alerts on cellphones Monday due to problems with cellular calls to 911 centers in 17 counties.
