(AP) - The Union County school system must decide today whether it will enroll an additional 626 students into an online school that has been heavily criticized for student low scores. School superintendent Jimmy Carter says he doesn't know if the district had such authority concerning enrollment.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Seven counties in Middle and East Tennessee have been added to a quarantine affecting 34 counties. The effort is to stop the invasive emerald ash borer that destroys ash trees. The bug was introduced to the U.S. from Asia in the 1990s and has since spread to 24 states and parts of Canada, killing millions of ash trees.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Federal data shows Tennessee has received about 2.5 percent of the unaccompanied children fleeing violence in Central America. Texas, New York, Florida and California received the most, accounting for 46 percent of the children received during that time.
