New twist in case of missing Signal Mountain woman

Posted: Updated:

SIGNAL MOUNTIAIN, HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) - It's been 11 days since anyone has seen or heard from Gail Palmgren.

Gail's sister Diane Nichols, and her husband Dan, continue looking for clues.

"She's got two little kids at home that miss her very much," said Diane Nichols, "they are asking for their mommy."

But not everyone believes Gail is missing.

Her husband, Matthew Palmgren, has filed a restraining order, a request for custody of the couple's children, and possession of their home.

A week after Gail was last seen, Matthew Palmgren filed papers to claim Gail took jewelry, changed pin numbers to bank accounts containing hundreds of thousands of dollars, and took the children's passports.

In a sworn statement he claims his wife has suffered "bouts of depression", is on several prescription medications, and is "delusional".

Gail's family denies those claims.

"Absolutely not," said Diane Nichols, when asked if her sister has a history of mental illness, "she is a very intelligent person, healthy, has two kids at home, she loves those kids, this is unusual."

Channel 3 has attempted numerous times to reach Matthew Palmgren since we first reported Gail Palmgren as missing.

Palmgren, nor his attorney, has not returned our calls.

The only people talking are those looking for Gail Palmgren and her siblings believe if she could contact them, she would.

"Gail, if you see this please come home to us, we want you back," said Dan Nichols.

Diane and Dan Nichols say they are concentrating on the search for Gail, and nothing more. The couple drove from New York to look for Gail and plan to stay near Signal Mountain until that happens.

"If you're out there please notify us, we just miss you," said Diane Nichols, looking directly into the camera, addressing her missing sister, "we just want you home, please call us."

Signal Mountain Police are still not commenting on the search for Gail Palmgren. They say she is still considered a missing person, but offered no other information.

Have you seen Gail Palmgren?

She drives a dark red, 4-door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with a personalized Alabama tag reading: "EAZY ST".

If you have any information on her whereabouts, you are asked to call the Signal Mountain Police Department at 423-886-2123.
