CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) --Jesse Mathews, convicted armed robber from Colorado, remains a high priority suspect to Chattanooga Police and Colorado Authorities.
Both Colorado Springs and the El Paso County Sheriff's Offices have been looking for Matthew since January.
That was around the time he posted a heavily tattooed photo of himself on Facebook.
Chattanooga attorney Jerry Tidwell says even though Mathews was sentenced to 20 years in prison for a 10-day robbing spree in 2002, he was likely to get parole early due to the charge being his first offense.
A silent memorial is now outside the shop where Sgt Chapin was killed. Flowers lay near a fire hydrant. Us money shops was closed part of the day.
It's a scene Colorado springs police dept is too familiar with. They've lost 2 officers in the last five years in the line of duty.
Sgt Steve Noblitt of the Colorado Springs Police Department said, "There is obviously a lot of mourning that happens and what we see in this type of deal is it really pulls the law enforcement community together."
As police continue to search for more clues, about Mathews past, his future is uncertain. He remains in a coma from his injuries, and a community remains in mourning for a fallen officer..
