CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Two Tennessee Valley businesses are getting grants from the State Labor and Workforce Development.
The Incumbent Worker Training Grant assists employers with upgrading skills and avoiding layoffs.
"Job training to upgrade the skills of Tennessee's workers is one of the best things we can do for our economy," said Governor Bredesen. "Now more than ever, it is important to continue training our workforce to keep employees and companies competitive."
Cormetech in Cleveland is getting more than $14,000. Cormetech is a leader in air pollution control technology. The grant will provide training to 36 employees.
In Hamilton County, WNA Incorporated makes disposable plastic products. They will get $19,000.
" I commend Governor Bredesen and Commissioner Neeley for awarding this grand in Hamilton County," said Senator Andy Berke.
