SEQUATCHIE COUNTY, TN. (WRCB)-- A Sequatchie County Commissioner was arrested for allegedly asking a teenage girl for sex.

Now, investigators are looking into similar claims made by other girls.

Since his arrest Friday night, other girls have come forward, claiming Barney Slatton acted inappropriately towards them.

We talked to one mother Monday who says it was only a matter of time before Slatton was arrested.

Amanda Wampler says her fears were confirmed when her neighbor, Barney Slatton, was arrested for soliciting sex from teenage girl.

Wampler says she's had an uneasy feeling about the way Slatton has interacted with her daughter.

"The way he would look at her, and watch her and the things he would say," says Wampler

Wampler says Slatton tried on numerous occasions to buy her 13-year-old daughter a cell phone and he constantly sent her text messages.

"He'd send pictures. Not like, like just pictures of his face or whatever he was doing," says Wampler.

Wampler's story is similar to that of investigators.

Dunlap Police Chief Clint Huth says a 17-year-old girl told police the 34-year-old made sexual comments to her, and then bought her a cell-phone to send her messages.

The girl played along as the TBI monitored her face-to-face meeting with Slatton at the Sequatchie County football game Friday night.

When he asked for sex, he was arrested.

"I'm not going to use the verbiage or the language that he used, but just to paraphrase he requested sex from her," says Chief Huth.

Word of Slatton's arrest has quickly spread through the district he serves.

"I don't know whether it's true or not, or what the outcome is, but the people up here don't want that reputation in the community and would like to see him go ahead and resign," says Gary Williams, former commission candidate.

Investigators aren't done yet picking through evidence.

"There may be some other victims in the community," says Chief Huth.

Chief Huth says Slatton can be seen on tape making comments about similar relationships with other teens.

Amanda Wampler says she just listened to her instincts.

"I'm glad that I didn't allow her to go do those things, I'm glad my gut was right and I knew better," says Wampler.

Barney Slatton was released on a $15,000 bond.

I spoke to him briefly on the phone Monday, he refused to comment.

Slatton was elected in August. Dunlap Police began their investigation just three months prior.

The county manager says if Slatton is convicted he will likely be dismissed.
