DUNLAP, SEQUATCHIE COUNTY (WRCB) – A Sequatchie County Commissioner has been released from jail on a $15,000 signature bond. He was arrested Friday night on solicitation of a minor and sexual battery charges.

According to Dunlap Police Chief Clint Huth, Barnett "Barney" David Slatton, 34 of Lewis Chapel was arrested at the Marion County High School football game Friday night.

Chief Huth says Slatton had exchanged sexually explicit messages with a 17-year-old girl using a Blackberry Slatton had purchased for her.

Police say the 17-year-old victim, and her parents, aided the DPD and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation in a meeting with Slatton at the football game.

During the meeting, which was monitored by police using surveillance, Slatton allegedly asked the girl to have sex.

Slatton is scheduled to appear in court on October 13.

Police say there is reason to believe there may be additional victims and are continuing to investigate.
