4 injured and guest trapped during fire at extended stay

Posted: Updated:

EAST RIDGE (WRCB) - A fire at an East Ridge Extended Stay didn't look like much from the outside when a Channel 3 Eyewitness News crew rolled up early Friday morning.  But it trapped a guest and injured four people.

The smoke alarms in the halls didn't alert any guests.

East Ridge officials tell Channel 3 Eyewitness News the Fire Marshal and Chief Building Inspector spent time on the scene trying to determine what went wrong.

Right now Superior Creek Lodge is under a 24 hour fire watch.  That means someone is continually walking through as the owners wait for parts that might fix the problem.

Officials hope this won't happen in the future. The fire started on the stove in a second-floor room and caused $20,000 dollars in damage. None of the injuries was life-threatening.
