CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- The boys and girls club of Chattanooga has found a great way for local high school students to spend their spring break. The best part is, it benefits their future. This week the club helped over 2 dozen students get job shadows. The students were able to pick where they wanted to go, and for some it was a very eye opening experience.

Six months ago Howard junior Latoesha Green was accidentally shot in the chest. Thanks to a little faith, and the boys and girls club, she's now planning a future she wasn't sure she had, "I coulda been dead and gone, I really think god has a purpose for my life, cuz this is something that I never would of thought I'd be doing."

Latoesha is spending her spring break with the Jr. Executive program job shadowing Hamilton county judge bob moon, "I sat up there with him, it was just like I was the judge, he explained everything well, it was real fun."

Just a few blocks from the courts building more boys and girls club members. Demetre Young and Tunisha Fritz were learning what makes Capital Mark Bank run.

One banker said, "it gives them the opportunity to see another part of the community, and what's required of them in that career path."

Whether they want to work in that field or not, the students say, it's a great way to stay off the streets.

Another Howard senior, Demetre Young said, "it's actually bringing us away from the trouble. We go to the boys and girls club to be a success, and influence others to be a success. Tell them there's nothing in the streets for them."

The students also say, no matter where you come from your future is in your hands, and programs like the boys and girls club, can only help.

"You don't have to always look to the negative you can look to the positive," said Tunisha Fritz, a junior at Lookout Valley.

The Boys and Girls Club has been doing this for almost 3 decades.THey do this once a year on spring break, but they will help others with job shadows over the summer.
