Dalton HS Band Marching in St. Patty's Day Parade

Posted: Updated:

DALTON, GA (WRCB) Savannah's St. Patrick's parade is the second largest in the country and one local band will be right in the middle of it.

The Dalton High School Marching Band left for Savannah Wednesday afternoon, where they'll entertain a crowd of 400 thousand people.

Band director David Henry says they do a lot of competitions in the fall, but parades are a different ballgame.

Senior Kyle Thain says parades take a lot of endurance.

"I've never marched in a parade that's gonna take about 2 hours, so I'm pretty excited about that."

This isn't the first time the Dalton High School Band has marched in a well-known parade, but it has been a while!

Band director David Henry says in 1987, the band marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
