MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Bob Riley is headed to India, China and Russia later this year to try to boost Alabama exports to the countries.
Riley announced the trips Thursday in Montgomery while honoring several Alabama companies for their success in international trade.
The trips to India and Russia are being organized by the Alabama Development Office. Riley says both countries are buying more Alabama products, with exports to India totaling more than $161 million last year and exports to Russian reaching $343 million.
Riley is also planning a trip to China with the Southern Governors Association. The trip is to promote the entire region.
