Associated Press - February 28, 2010 7:34 PM ET

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A Clarke County teen has been jailed after his pickup truck struck and killed a woman near Whatley.

A state troopers report shows 47-year-old Damita Law, of Malcolm, was killed as she walked along U.S. 84 east of Whatley about 3:35 a.m. Sunday.

Troopers said 19-year-old Ezekiel Alexander Lewis, of Thomasville, was driving a pickup truck and was arrested and charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident.

Cpl. Steven Smith said Lewis was placed in the Clarke County Jail. He said troopers believe alcohol and speed played a role in the crash and it remains under investigation.
