BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Army National Guard has unveiled a new lightweight helicopter to be used in for drug fighting operations and law enforcement support missions.
The Birmingham News reports that the new Light Utility Helicopter was presented to Brig. Gen. Sheryl Gordon Saturday morning at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. Gordon is commander of the 62nd Troop Command.
The UH-72A Lakota will replace the OH-58 Kiowa helicopter on counterdrug missions. It is the first new aircraft that the Alabama Guard has received in years.
