Ga. suspect calls cops hoping to get reward money

Associated Press - December 19, 2009 4:04 PM ET

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a man suspected in a string of Decatur County robberies tried to report his accomplices, thinking he could snag a piece of the reward.

A group of business owners on Tuesday offered nearly $7,000 for tips on the recent armed robberies in the area.

WALB-TV reports that Investigator Chip Nix got a call Thursday from 18-year-old Antonio Butler.

Nix says Butler admitted to being present when a robbery was planned and tried to give up two other suspects: 19-year-old Delontray Torres and 17-year-old Ira Florence III.

All three men were arrested late Thursday night and face robbery charges.

Authorities believe the three were involved in some of the robberies, but they also think there are more suspects still on the loose.
