ATLANTA (AP) - Simone Bell has claimed a Georgia House seat in Atlanta on Tuesday.
She defeated lawyer Asha Jackson. Both are Democrats.
With all precincts reporting, Bell received 56 percent of the vote to Jackson's 44 percent.
Bell describes herself as a community activist and organizer.
The seat represents neighborhoods in East Atlanta, Cabbagetown and west DeKalb County in Atlanta.
The race is 1 of 4 state legislative races decided by runoffs Tuesday.
