ATLANTA (AP) - Uga VII has been buried next to his father at Sanford Stadium.
The 56-pound white English bulldog who was the mascot of the University of Georgia football team died Thursday of heart-related causes.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that only university dignitaries, members of the family that owned the mascot and a few members of the media were allowed at the Saturday memorial for the 4-year-old dog.
Uga VII was brought to the mausoleum in the southwest corner of the field. Six previous Ugas are entombed there.
Uga VII had been the team's mascot since August 2008. The previous mascot, Uga VI, died of heart failure in June 2008 after a 9-year reign.
