Chattanooga State Makeovers

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) Money is tight for a lot of us these days. Luxuries we used to indulge in have been cut from the budget, or we don't indulge them as often.

Now add in caring for a loved one which strains budgets and time even more.

On Thursday, local caregivers had a chance to get pampered and it didn't cost them a dime.

The scene may seem like one you'd find at any spa in Chattanooga, but it's very special. The hair stylists you see are all students at Chattanooga state. The clients are all caregivers of people with disabilities.

It's all part of an outreach effort between Chattanooga State and the Tennessee Respite Coalition. an effort to honor caregivers for the work they do so diligently every day.

The finances of this are so important. Things as simple as the manicure people are getting would cost about 30 dollars at most stores around Chattanooga. That's a price many people here just could not justify spending.

The East campus site was a one stop shop for pampering. Everything from hair styling, manicures and pedicures, to massage.

All to put caregivers on the receiving end of things for a change.

November is National Caregiver month.
