DALTON, GA (WRCB) Less petroleum based products to go in our landfill. In addition to that we have created a product that use to be cradle to cradle and it can used over and over again. And that product is AstroTurf or artificial grass and it's made in Dalton, Georgia by Textile Management and Associates. Sold all over the world, this family owned company covers everything from the NFL to the NCAA. If its green it's probably made right here. It starts at this part of the plant where the product is first sewn together, then a soy based coating is applied, next it's through an oven that cures the product, holes are put in for drainage and then its rolled up and shipped, often times with the white line already in place for the field. What started in 1965 is now leading the world in environmentally conscious products. Remember I mentioned the word soy. our backing products are made with soybean oil that is derived from soybean grown right here in the U.S. It helps replace our dependency on foreign oil. The products are green.... And there's something else about this product. everybody is so concerned about staying healthy. They also put an antibacterial on the back to prevent things like strep and other diseases. The company has also seen a tremendous use of their products on people's yards. Drought and water restrictions were once a problem in Georgia so people decided to go green all over. It reduces the need for oil, gasoline, herbicides and fertilizers This company is home to more than 1000 proud employees who are making a difference is keeping things green. It's their turf and they are certainly proud of this product.
