CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) --Mandi Davis says "I wanted to see some smoother skin."
Mandi Davis spent years out in the sun, and in her 30's she started to notice spots on her face like these.. the sun was taking a toll.
Dr. Carey Nease from Southern Surgical Arts says "Sun damage is common in the south, the results of that are pigment changes texture changes, wrinkles, decrease in the skin tone."
Mandi decided to undergo the new laser technology for skin resurfacing... the AFFIRM CO2.
Mandi says "It was smoother, clear skin, I don't have on any makeup and the texture was improved, the sun spots were lighter."
The procedure took about an hour.. and there was some down time, although a lot less than going under the knife.
Mandi says "After the procedure, you look like you have a sunburn for about 4/5 days, and then it all starts to peel away and you see your clear skin the results you wanted."
Dr. Nease says a lot of women often combine that procedure with the new Smartlipo... to get rid of unwanted cellulite.
Dr. Nease says "It's a combination of two lasers we use to break up unwanted areas of fat and also to heat the skin. It's a cutting edge version of liposuction."
And Dr. Nease says he can combine the Affirm CO2 and Smartlipo for a total laser face lift... with no incisions.
As for Mandi she's pleased with her results... she says she can go out.. without wearing makeup.
Mandi says "It made me feel better about myself, and I'm glad I did it."

As with any cosmetic surgery.. these procedures aren't cheap. The Affirm costs around $1,500.00, and the Smartlipo is $2,000.00 and up.
Also new, Dr. Nease just added another option this week. The Tri active Laser, a non surgical treatment for cellulite of the stomach, buttocks and thighs. It requires a series of weekly treatments. This procedure does not take away volume it only smoothes the skin.
