MURRAY COUNTY, Ga. (WRCB) -- The wounds on 19-month-old Caydence Plott's face speak for themselves. Her mother says she was terrified when she learned that Zues, the family's Great Dane, bit her little girl's face.
"In a moment's time, she was bitten," said Amber Plott.
Amber was trying to feed the other dogs when she ran to the door to sign for a home delivery. She didn't notice Caydence had gotten close to Zues' food bowl, and that is when he attacked.
"I opened the door to sign some papers and didn't even think about the other dogs," Plott said.
The incident was enough to get child services involved after animal control officers removed the dog.
Officers claim Zues is being a good dog inside the pen at the shelter.
Plott believes this bite, was just a freak incident.
"Everyone is saying she was attacked, and he did not attack her," Plott said. "She does not have puncture wounds."
Murray Animal Control takes in about 100 dogs a week; many of them bite cases, but they are rarely Great Dane's.
"They just need to be watched," said Pauline Davis, animal control director. "I can't say one is more aggressive over another; they just need to be watched."
We are told several families have shown interest in Zues, but until further evaluation, he will be held for another 10 days.
