CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) Congressman Zach Wamp is warning of a potential threat to our local economy.
He says the Chickamauga Lock is in danger of being closed if Congress does not approve more money for it.
In a speech on the house floor last week, Wamp called the deterioration of the concrete a crisis.
Wamp and Congressman Lincoln Davis tried to get 14 million dollars approved by a joint committee, but only got one million.
Without the money to get construction on the actual new lock started in a timely manner, the lock will close for a time within the next five years.
