CLEVELAND, TN (WRCB)- Gallatin's Junior Miss Chelsea Milligan was selected Tennessee's Junior Miss 2010 Saturday evening at Lee University in Cleveland. Miss Milligan is a rising senior at Merrol Hyde Magnet School in Hendersonville near Nashville.
Chosen as first alternate was GPS student Anna-Carson Rimer of Ooltewah.
It was the second straight year that a student from Merrol Hyde Magnet School and Ooltewah's Junior Miss finished in the top two spots in the state program.
Miss Milligan, who succeeds Katharine Kolp, won Overall Interview and preliminaries in Self-Expression and Scholastics. Miss Rimer won Overall Talent.
Miss Milligan, a longtime dancer, won a $5,000 scholarship and will compete at the 2010 America's Junior Miss next June in Mobile, Alabama.
She and her family attended the homecoming celebration for Miss Tennessee Stefanie Wittler Sunday afternoon at Hamilton Place before returning home.
The new Junior Miss said, "I'm still in shock. It was a great surprise. Cleveland was a lovely town, and we had so much fun. I made so many new friends, and enjoyed all the activities."
She was accompanied by her parents, grandfather, and boyfriend, Christian Powers, who also attended Merrol Hyde.
