CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Sommer Maynor couldn't believe her eyes when she walked through the front door of her new dream home, courtesy of Saint Jude Hospital.
"I'm just blown away," she said.
Sommer didn't expect to win. In fact, she and her husband would make jokes around the house to take their minds off the contest.
"He just sat there and said 'what would you do if they said our name,'" Sommer said. "He said he would sit here and laugh, and he did."
Her husband Ryan, in disbelief said, "I am just ecstatic. It is pretty unbelievable."
Sommer bought the winning ticket in support of St. Jude after her cousin Kayla was treated by the hospital more than a year ago. Kayla said while she was admitted for a childhood disease, it was Sommer who gave her the strength to get through her treatment.
"I went away for eight months, and while that was going on, Sommer sent me letters," said Kayla.
It was also a dream come true for the builder Pratt and Associates. Owner Win Pratt said despite the housing market crunch, more contractors than expected were able to pitch in and help complete the home.
"Given the economic conditions of the entire country, I thought it might be difficult to get folks to donate time because everyone is under pressure," Pratt added.
Now Sommer's family is ready to move in their new home and even more eager to meet the neighbors.
"We are going to have a big move-in party. Everyone's invited."
Many other prizes were given away during the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. Here's a complete list:
