
SOUTH PITTSBURG (WRCB) -- Police in South Pittsburg say a man tried to hold up a bank after he handed over a note saying he had a bomb.
The attempted robbery happened Friday morning at 9am at the Citizens Tri-County Bank. Witnesses say the man entered the driver-thru, handing the teller a note and his driver's license. The note said he had a bomb that would go off in the next 30 seconds if the teller did not give him all of the money.
Police say the teller backed away and told someone else what was going on. Witnesses say that's when the suspect realized what was going on and drove away. Police identified the suspect as John Floyd Thomas. Police say they searched the woods near New Hope for the suspect.
